Let’s take over the ship with Hatters!!

Join us for a fun filled cruise to Cairns and Airlie beach.

Pricing depends on the type of cabin (interior, oceanview, balcony), and the position on the ship (eg. front of the ship is cheaper, some decks are more expensive than others). However as a guide, the following prices are approx:

  • Interior from approx $1,160 per person (twin share)
  • Oceanview (window) from approx $1,440 per person (twin share)
  • Balcony from approx $1,932 per person (twin share)

Part of the reason for booking so far in advance is to give us all the ability to pay it off over time, so only the deposit needs to be paid initially, the rest can be paid off any time up until 3 months prior to sailing (by 1st Feb 2028)

Cabin position

For those who haven’t cruised before. Some things to consider (other than price) with cabin locations:

  • The cheaper cabins at the ends of the ship often involve a lot more walking to get to the main entertainment areas.
  • Cabins on the front of the ship can have more movement (not as suitable for those with sea-sickness), and interior cabins here will be on the waterline so may have more wave noise in rough seas.
  • Midship cabins are more expensive but have less motion and are generally closer to elevators which often means less walking around.
  • Cabins located below/above the theatres and nightclubs can be noisy (you will hear late night music if you go to bed early).
  • Cabins below the pool deck may also hear extra noise in the mornings when the pool area is set up, and at night when there are parties around the pool.

Further details to come, but we are planning a meet up with local Hatters in Cairns.  While on the ship we aim to have meetups for those who wish to do activities together, and those who wish to do their own thing are free to do that.

  • Day 2: Day at Sea (We will have an onboard meetup on this day)
  • Day 3: Day at Sea (We will have an onboard meetup on this day)
  • Day 4: Airlie Beach (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM) – Activities TBA, there is a large (free) lagoon pool area near the beach and shore excursions we can book.
  • Day 5: Cairns (9:30 AM – 7:30 PM) – Activities TBA, we are organising a lunch meetup with local QLD Hatters, and there are shore excursions we can book.
  • Day 6: Willis Island (Day at sea, we don’t leave the ship. We will have an onboard meetup on this day)
  • Day 7: Day at Sea (We will have an onboard meetup on this day)
  • Day 8: Tangalooma (8:00 AM – 6:00 PM) – Activities TBA
  • Day 9: Day at Sea (We will have an onboard meetup on this day)
  • Day 10: Sydney Arrives at 6:30 AM (Usually disembark from 8am onward)

We may have additional onboard activities and shore tours planned – more details on these will be given closer to the time.

If we have ladies interested in doing any shore excursions, we may be able to organise this closer to the sailing date.

For inquiries, and to join the email list for updates and info, email aussiehatting@gmail.com

If you do choose to book the cruise privately through your own travel agent, please still send in your name, phone, email address and cabin number – as without this we cannot easily communicate or make arrangements and you may miss out on being included in our planned activities. (Please note that the goodybag and scavenger hunt/games are only available for those who book the cruise through me.)
Sharing a Cabin

The cabins are priced based on the expectation of 2 passengers to the cabin. If you want a cabin on your own, you will effectively need to pay the price of 2 people.

If you are traveling on your own and don’t have a cabinmate, we can try and partner you up with another Hatter if you would like, so that you do not have to pay the extra for a solo cabin.

———————–

3 to a cabin – The oceanview and balcony cabins all appear to have a sofa which converts to a sofa-bed for a 3rd passenger.

These sofa-beds are not like a pull out one at home, they are effectively already a bed that gets converted to a couch by adding cushions at the back (they have no arms). So people have reported that they are decently comfortable, and so long as you are not overly tall, they should be just like sleeping in a normal bed.

Having 3 people sharing a cabin ends up being a little cheaper per person (by about $160 per person) than having 2 people share a cabin, so this option might be something to consider for Hatters on a budget when one person doesn’t mind using the sofa bed (or you can rotate).

Photos from the 2020 cruise

I ran a similar cruise in 2020, where we went to Tasmania and South Australia. With a mermaid pool party, Coronation and royal ceremony onboard, meetups for High Tea and cocktails, shore tours and meetups with Hatters in Port Lincoln and Adelaide.

As you can see, we had loads of fun!
