Video conferencing with Zoom
We we can host (free) video conferencing Hatter gatherings using “Zoom”. So anyone who wants to chat with other Hatters at any time can do so by clicking the link below, or dialing in on their phones.
Hatter Chatter Video gatherings: (AEST)
7pm each Tuesday
1pm each Thursday
11am each Friday!
I’ve set up a free video conference through “Zoom”. You can use it even if you don’t have access to a webcam, you can even just call in on your phone!
Queens, feel free to pass the info on to your chapters and you should be able to all get together in there. Zoom is free if you are joining from the app or the meeting room link. You can dial in on a phone if you don’t have internet access (with standard call charges). You may be asked to make a (free) account and/or download the program.
To use it, simply click the link below
This will launch the zoom program if you already have it, or will prompt you to download it if you don’t have it yet (it is a quick download).
If you are asked for a Meeting ID, enter this number: 364 566 167
You will be asked for a password to join the meeting – you can find this on the Australian Hatting and Victorian Hatting facebook groups. It is not published here for privacy/
One tap mobile
(no, I don’t know what that means either )
Dial in by phone
You won’t have access to video of course, but can talk and hear people. Use the best number for your location (eg if you are in VIC, use the 03 area code number). I believe the charges for dialing in on your phone will be charged like a normal phone call. So use the phone number for the state you are in, to avoid being charged interstate call charges
+61 3 7018 2005 (Australia – 03 area code – VIC/TAS)
+61 8 7150 1149 (Australia – 08 area code – WA/SA/NT)
+61 2 8015 6011 (Australia – 02 area code – NSW/ACT)
+64 9 884 6780 (New Zealand – 09 area code)
+64 4 886 0026 (New Zealand – 04 area code)
— It is limited to 100 people at a time. I don’t imagine we’ll get to that many (if we did it’s going to be difficult to manage conversations!) But if we get over that amount, I’d ask everyone to chat for a while then leave for a bit to let others get in for a bit.
By default the main view will show one person (if their name comes up with no video it means they don’t have a webcam for video and are voice only). But you can change to “gallery view” which will show everyone on the screen together (up to about 35 people). Just click “Gallery View”
If you are connecting using a computer but don’t have a microphone or any way to talk, you can click the “chat” option on the bottom and type messages in.
